Tom is third generation Kaiapoi and has spent his entire life in Kaiapoi, with the exception of 4 years when he was appointed Postmaster of Middlemarch in Central Otago. He has had 30 years working for NZ Post/Post Office and has been the Manager at Kaiapoi Postshop from 1987 until recently.

Tom is married to Bronwyn and they have two adult daughters, Deena and Justine, both of whom live in Kaiapoi. They have three super grandchildren.
When time permits, Tom is a keen outdoor bowler. He has represented Canterbury at both outdoor Bowls and school boy rugby league. He is a keen rugby league fan.

Tom has an avid interest in the future direction and the controlled growth of Kaiapoi and has always worked for the betterment of the community. He is proud of the association that he has formed within many sectors of the community over his lifetime and will endeavour to maintain these relationships.
